For those seeking a more active and adventurous discovery of the Kimberley, this is a tour for you!  A number of hiking opportunities are on offer, and after working up a sweat there's no better way to cool off than with a swim in the gorges that await you.  You'll trek to hidden locations to admire ancient Aboriginal rock art, take a helicopter ride over Mitchell Falls and ford the Durack and Pentecost rivers - this truly is an adventure you will remember.

GKC08 Itinerary

Day 1. Broome, Gibb River Road, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge National Park
Head into the unique Kimberley Outback and visit the Boab Prison Tree, believed to be more than 1000 years old. 14 metres in width, this hollowed tree was used as a prison cell during the region's early days. Then begin the journey on the Gibb River Road as you head for Windjana Gorge National Park and Tunnel Creek.

Day 2. Bell Gorge, Hiking and Swimming

Travel to Bell Gorge, where rugged cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes. Explore the stunning gorge and have a swim.  The energetic can choose from a number of hiking opportunities. (BLD)


Day 3. Galvans Gorge, Barnett River Gorge

Today, explore and swim at Galvans Gorge and Barnett River Gorge. Turn off the Gibb River Road and head north towards the Mitchell Plateau.

Day 4. Mitchell Plateau, Anboriginal Rock Art

Ascending the Mitchell Plateau, see Wandjina art and swim in the King Edward River. This is the land of the Wunambal people and you are their guest.
Two Night Stay: EXCLUSIVE! Stay in tented cabins with private ensuite bathrooms at Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge. (BLD)


Day 5. Gwion (Bradshaw) Art, Mitchell Falls

Today you have a day to explore Mitchell Falls. Discover rarely seen Gwion (Bradshaw) art, and swim in the pools above Mitchell Falls. Then enjoy an included special helicopter flight over Mitchell Falls. Longer scenic helicopter flights are available at an additional charge. (BLD) 


Day 6. Mitchell Plateau, King Edward River

Today, view galleries of ancient Aboriginal art.  Enjoy lunch at King Edward River, with time for a swim before continuing to your overnight accommodation at our exclusive wilderness camp.

Day 7. El Questro Station, Emma Gorge

Rejoining the Gibb River Road, ford the Durack River, named after the region's most famous pioneering family. Then, ford the mighty Pentecost River to El Questro Station, in the heart of the Kimberley.

Day 8. El Questro, Wyndham, Kununurra

Hike to lovely Emma Gorge and enjoy a swim to the towering droplet waterfall.  Then enjoy a soak in the thermal pools of Zebedee Springs. Head to Wyndham for spectacular views from Five Rivers Lookout. Your tour concludes in Kununurra. (BL)
